Film Threat DVD Announces Major Expansion With New Titles, Web Site and Acquisitions Director

LOS ANGELES, July 25, 2003 -- Film Threat DVD, the home entertainment division of popular online cinema magazine Film Threat (www.filmthreat.com), is announcing a major expansion of its operations beginning this fall with new titles, a new Internet presence, and the addition of a new director of acquisitions to bring the best of independent cinema to the label.

Film Threat DVD recently acquired a series of critically acclaimed independent features for release later in 2003.  Among the upcoming releases is a five-disc boxed set celebrating the unique cinematic output of underground cult moviemaker Jon Schnepp, with films including "The Removers," "Visitor," BrainWarp," "Mad Science" and "Flak Crisp."  Also set for release are Stephen Statler's dark comedy about public access television "The Breathing Show," William Moreing's festival favorite about a day in the life of a suburban neighborhood "Joyful Partaking," Christian de Rezendes' Dogme-inspired drama "Getting Out of Rhode Island," which Film Threat named as the Best Unseen Film of 2002, and "Red," directed by Film Threat founder Chris Gore and starring the legendary Hollywood tough guy Lawrence Tierney.

Beginning in 2004, Film Threat DVD will plan to release between 30 and 50 features annually in the home entertainment market.  Film Threat DVD titles will be available in major entertainment retail outlets and Internet sales channels and through the online Film Threat Shop (www.filmthreat.com/shop/).

The label has also launched its own Internet presence at www.filmthreatdvd.com, which provides information for both moviegoers on the newest releases and for filmmakers to partner with Film Threat DVD in a unique distribution process that enables the filmmakers to retain the rights to their production while working in marketing partnership with the label to reach a wide sales audience.

Also within its expansion, Film Threat DVD has brought aboard Mitchell Bard as its director of acquisitions.  Bard is the director of development of Snapper Films, a New York- and Helsinki-based production company that specializes in European financing.  He has also written, produced and directed the award-winning short film "Soup or Salad?" and the feature "Mergers & Acquisitions" starring Lee Tergesen (Beecher on the HBO series "Oz").  Mitchell graudated cum laude from the University of Miami Law School, where he was editor in chief of the University of Miami Entertainment and Sports Review.  He can be reached at mbard@filmthreat.com

Film Threat DVD launched in April 2003 with Dennis Pryzwara's documentary "Star Woids" and recently added new titles including the parody "Jar Jar Binks: The F! True Hollywood Story," the drama "April is My Religion" and espionage comedy "Agent 15."
